DAY 1: CUSCO – TINKI – UPIS
Our journey begins with a departure from your hotel in Cusco at 5:00 a.m. We will take a comfortable private bus, along the scenic route Cusco-Puerto Maldonado highway. As you journey through this beautiful landscape, we will pass through several charming towns such as Urcos, Ccatca, and other outlying communities before arrive to Ocongate, the last chance for any necessary purchases. The entire drive, taking approximately 2 hours, lead us to our starting point, the town of Tinki, situated at 3,550 meters (11,646 feet).
The adventure truly kicks off here as we get on in a gentle ascent across the expansive pampas, offering unobstructed views. Along the way, we will encounter small herder settlements and farmer communities that add a cultural dimension to the hike. After approximately three hours of walking, we will stop for a well-deserved lunch break, already treated to splendid views of the majestic Ausangate snow peak.
Continuing our journey for another two hours, we will reach our first campsite at Upis, at an altitude of 4,250 meters (13,944 feet). From this point, we will be treated to awe-inspiring views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks, immersing ourself in the natural beauty and peaceful of the Peruvian Andes.

DAY 2: UPIS – PASO ARAPA – AUSANGATE CCOCHA
After a delicious breakfast, we start to hike at 6:30 a.m. for an exciting trek. We begin our journey with a difficult ascent that take about three hours and bring us to the spectacular Arapa Pass, which is located at an astounding elevation of 4,800 meters (15,748 feet). We will be rewarded with a spectacular panoramic view of the Ausangate Mountain at the pass’s summit, which is a sight to behold.
Our route from the Arapa Pass take us across a dry hillside, then we descend for 45 minutes, at times rather steeply. A tranquil and captivating state of mind is created by the valley we descend into, which is studded with deep blue glacial lakes and tumbling waterfalls. We’ll stop for a brief lunch in one of these gorgeous lakes and enjoy the peace and quiet of this extraordinary natural environment.
The hike continues with a one-hour walk on level ground that take us to another hour-long gradual slope. The Ausangate Pass (Pucacocha), which is located at an elevation of 4,900 meters (16,076 feet), is the second pass of the day. You’ll be rewarded with yet another magnificent view from this high vantage point, this time of Ausangate Mountain and the breathtaking Lake Ausangatecocha, a crystalline expanse created by the melting glacier.
We descend from the pass in about 1 hour, arriving at our campsite at 4,600 meters (15,091 feet), next to the Surinecocha lake. We are now at the foot of the Ausangate glacier, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the Andes. As sunset approaches, we will have tea and dinner.

Distance : 16 km / 9.94 miles approximately.
Hiking time : 8 to 9 hours approximately.

DAY 3: AUSANGATE CCOCHA – PASO PALOMANI – SORAPATA
Our day’s journey start after a filling breakfast with a two-hour ascent that takes us to the spectacular Palomani Pass, which rises to 5,200 meters (17,060 feet). A wonderfully scenery await you at the summit of this peak, where you’ll be treated to expansive, unobstructed views that completely enclose the mountain range of Vilcanota.
After a thrilling hour-long descent down a difficult slope, we arrive to our Machuracay campsite. We’ll take a break here for a well-earned lunch. We will enjoy the beautiful valley along the trek, with the amazing views of Ausangate snow mountain peak.
We finish our day of hiking arriving to the quite Sorapata valley, which is located over 4,590 meters (15,059 feet), where we will spend the night. After a hiking day with a beautiful landscape, this peaceful place offers us an ideal environment for rest and recover with a delicious dinner.
Summary day 3: Ausangate trek.
Difficulty level : Difficult to moderate.
Distance : 15 km / 9.32 miles approximately.
Hiking time : 7 to 8 hours approximately.
Meals included : Breakfast, Lunch, snacks, tea time and dinner.
DAY 4: SORAPATA – PASO HAMPA – PACCHANTA
This day, we will wake you up early in the morning with a cup of tea in the tent. After enjoy a delicious breakfast, we will start walking thought the Hampa small community for about 4 hours. We head to the last pass of our hike, Hampa pass 5000m/ 16,404 ft. Along the way, we will enjoy different colored lakes very well known as a 7 lakes views of the Ausangate Mountain from different angle and we will have our lunch in this beautiful area. After lunch, we will continue 3 more hours to our last campsite Pacchanta 4200m / 13,779 ft where we can enjoy the thermal hot spring and free afternoon to explore the highland community.

Distance : 13 km / 8.07 miles approximately.
Hiking time : 6 to 7 hours approximately.
Meals included : Breakfast, Lunch, snacks, tea time and dinner.
DAY 5: PACCHANTA - TINKI - CUSCO
We will depart for the final leg of our adventure early in the morning along an easy-to-follow trail after an excellent meal. It will take us around two hours to complete this easy trek to Tinki, which is a lovely place. A delicious lunch will be provided when we get to Tinki, giving us a chance to enjoy the final tastes of our journey.
Following this delicious supper, our private transportation will be waiting to take you on a lovely ride back to your Cusco hotel.
