Choquequirao Trek 5 Days 4 Nights, (3.303m/10,168ft) is the second most important archeological site in Cusco. It has a connection with the last Inca cities of Vilcabamba and with Machu Picchu and is in the middle of different Inca roads that traverse all of the Inca culture. The Choquequirao Trek is perfect for those looking to get away from the crowds or who are looking for something other than Machu Picchu during their trip. The trek takes you to the sister city of Machu Picchu, Choquequirao (The Cradle of Gold) which sits high above the Apurimac Valley.

DAY 1: CUSCO – CAPULIYOC – PLAYA ROSALINAS – SANTA ROSA
This incredible and different adventure starts at 4:30 in the morning, Machupicchu Condor Trek staff will pick you up at the hotel and drive for the next 4 hours in our private bus to Capuliyoc (2,850 m/9,407 ft). Along the route we will observe spectacular valleys, mountains and snow-capped peaks, and we arrive to Capuliyoc with breakfast, meet our horse drivers and load all our equipment on the horses. We will only carry a small backpack with some personal belongings for the hike.
We will start walking down to Playa Rosalinas (1,475m/4,840ft) where we will have lunch. Along the way, you will enjoy magnificent views of the Apurimac Canyon and mountain peaks such as Padriyoc at 5,571m/18,387ft. After lunch, we will continue ascending for two hours to our first camp at Santa Rosa, (1900m/6234ft) where our hot drinks and snacks will be ready. W will have time to settle into the tents, which will already be set up, before dinner.

DAY 2: SANTA ROSA - MARANPATA - CHOQUEQUIRAO
Machupicchu Condor Trek guide will wake you up at 6:00am with a hot cup of tea to enjoy before getting up. After an early breakfast, we start our hiking adventure for 2 hours to Maranpata (2,850m/9,350 f) site. We will enjoy the landscape and walk through out an amazing variety of flora and fauna to the magnificent archaeological site of Choquequirao. We will have lunch and, in the afternoon, we will take a private guided tour of this fascinating site.
During the tour, we will explore all the important sections, such as palaces, temples, ritual water fountains, the amazing Usnu (ceremonial platform), agricultural terraces, llama section and much more. The tour Guide will explain the fascinating history of this incredible place and if we are lucky we will be able to see the condor fly over the area. Finally, we camp in Choquequirao, where we will have tea time and dinner. Later we can enjoy the sky like Incas were.

Hiking time : 6 to 7 hours approximately.

DAY 3: CHOQUEQUIRAO – PLAYA ROSALINAS – CHIQUISCA
Machupicchu Condor Trek Tour Guide will wake you up at 6:00am with a hot cup of tea to enjoy before getting up. After breakfast, we will descend to the magnificent Apurimac River (1,550 m/5085 f), a hiking about 4 hours approximately. This river was considered one of sacred gods in the Inca time, because it shows strength and power. Finally, after lunch and siesta we walk up for an hour and a half to our third camp in Chiquisca (1,990 m/6528 f). Once again, your tents will be set up, with tea time and dinner.
Summary day 3: Choquequirao trek.
Difficulty level : Moderate to Difficult.
Distance : 12 km / 7.5 miles approximately.
Hiking time : 6 to 7 hours approximately.
Meals included : Breakfast, lunch, snacks, tea time and dinner.
DAY 4: CHIQUISCA – CAPULIYUC – SAYWITE – CUSCO
After a pleasant breakfast, we head towards the Capuliyoc pass. Once there, enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and the Apurimac Canyon. Then we will take our car to Cachora (2,850m/9,407ft) for lunch. Then we will take our private transportation to the archaeological site of Saywite taking enough time to explore. Finally, our private bus will take us back to our hotel in Cusco, arriving around 6pm.

Distance : 8 km / 4.5 miles approximately.
Hiking time : 3 to 4 hours approximately.
